Open since 2013 in the RAW district of Friedrichshain, near big names such as Berghain and Matrix, the 1700 square meters that make up Urban Spree are filled with versatile, creative spaces that showcase urban art, culture, music and food. You will surely notice the big wall facing Warschauer Strasse, where street artists continually showcase their craft. This local gem nestled below street level, offers a gallery showcasing contemporary local artists, photographers and on-site residencies, along with a bookshop featuring a selection of graffiti, photography, street art books and screen prints. Today, Urban Spree has even started its own publishing company. You can also come and enjoy DIY workshops on the premises. For all music lovers, the venue offers a concert room dedicated to live music of different genres including Garage, Psych Rock, Jazz and innovative Electronic music. At night, the venue transforms into a gloomy, foggy club with dark music blaring from the speakers. Throughout the summer, be sure to catch the Urban Spree Summer Sessions, where the best street musicians in Berlin come to play their stuff throughout the weekend in the Biergarten outside (where you can find mobile street food units). This inspired space allows everyone to take part in the cultural scene of the city, and lets visitors be immersed in varied artforms. The Urban Spree is also associated with the well-known Karke Festival and Italo Festival.
